ABOUT US

Founded in spring 2022 by husband and wife co-owners, Stevie and Michelle Webb, The Cheese Shop combines our mutual passion for cheesemongering and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to create a bustling gathering place to indulge in the best cheeses from producers in our own backyard and around the world, to engage in educational and thoughtful conversations with our resident cheesemongers about the art, science and making of cheese, and opening people’s minds and palettes to new flavors and favorites. The Cheese Shop is a majority woman- and family-owned business based in Carrboro, North Carolina.

  • Michelle Webb

An entrepreneur at heart, Michelle has spent nearly 20 years building high-performing teams, portfolios, and practices within the field of marketing and public relations through in-house and agency roles. While relatively new to the food and beverage industry, a strong background in event planning and obsessive attention to flavor, perfect bites, and culinary experience has led to considerable success in co-founding The Cheese Shop with her husband Stevie. Together, the two have built an innovative cheese shop business model that extends across retail, B2B, as well as an award-winning, pop up, 6-course cheese and wine dinner concept. In her role, Michelle oversees the day-to-day operations and growth of the business and enthusiastically contributes to menu development as time permits. Otherwise, she delights in the opportunity to bring the communications rigor of her agency life to her own small business in the bustling town of Carrboro, NC.

  • Stevie Lee Webb

    CO-FOUNDER & HEAD CHEESEMONGER

A trained chef and dual citizen of the US and UK, Stevie re-located to the States in 2006 from London. Starting a career as a talk radio producer, Stevie eventually transitioned into emergency medicine for nearly a decade. While working as a 911 and critical care paramedic for some of New York City’s top hospitals, he needed an occasional break from the high stress environment and became a cheesemonger at The Greene Grape, one of Brooklyn’s most successful specialty groceries. Known for one of New York’s largest and most well- stocked cheese and charcuterie counters, The Greene Grape provided Stevie the opportunity to deepen his knowledge of the world’s finest cheeses and provisions. Most of all, he delighted in helping customers pick cheeses, introducing them to new favorites, and sharing them among family and friends. Stevie also trained as a chef at London’s prestigious Leith’s School of Food and Wine.
